Anwar Ibrahim will be contesting the post of PKR president. Above, for all to see, is the “Reformasi 20 Tahun” team.Nurul Izzah Anwar (Permatang Pauh MP), Johari Abdul (Sungai Petani MP), William Leong (Selayang MP), S Kesavan (Sungai Siput MP), Fuziah Salleh (Kuantan MP), Rodziah Ismail (Batu Tiga state assemblyman), Akmal Nasir (Johor Baru MP) and Raymond Ahuar (Sabah PKR Youth chief). All the President’s men and women will be there for Rafizi Ramli in his campaign to be Deputy president of PKR….or as Istana Segambut has decreed….to be Anwar’s number two (arrogantly presuming that Anwar will be elected President of PKR!)

What of the others in PKR?

Azmin Ali (Deputy President PKR and Minister of Economic Affairs), Saifuddin Abdullah (Minister of Foreign Affairs), Zuraidah (Women’s Chief of PKR and Minister of Housing and Local Government), Dr Xavier Jayakumar (Vice President), Sivarasa Rasiah (Deputy Minister of Rural Development), Dr Lee Boon Chye (Deputy Minister of Health)…..are these people not part of this Reformasi 20 Tahun team? Allahu alam!!!

Two decades ago, after he was dismissed from office, Anwar Ibrahim put together Reformasi to advance his own political agenda. He was astute enough then to understand that the time for “Reformasi” has come and he became the focal point and focus of the “Reformasi” movement. A movement that has forever changed the political landscape of Malaysia’s politics and has resulted, two decades later, in the coming into power of Pakatan Harapan, the opposition that Reformasi spawned.

Today Rafizi tells us that he is committed to the “Reformasi Agenda”. Rafizi tells us “I know this is a heavy burden as I am not someone in government, nor am I wealthy”…so what are we to do to help him carry that heavt burden? Make him wealthy and give him power so that he can carry out the “Reformasi Agenda? Where was Rafizi Ramli in 1998? Rafizi was 11 years old then.

So what is the “Reformasi Agenda” that Rafizi is talking about?

I am not going to insult anybody’s intelligence by trying to explain to you what the “Reformasi Agenda” is all about but it has something to do with the two years wait that Anwar has before he becomes Prime Minister. It has something to do with ensuring that Azmin Ali does not become a “problem” to Anwar in his quest to become Prime Minister. And it has something to do with what the Australians call the “tall poppy syndrome”. Azmin Ali is the ‘tall poppy” within PKR.

“tall poppy syndrome” ….a social phenomenon in which people of genuine merit are resented, attacked, cut down, or criticised because their talents or achievements elevate them above or distinguish them from their peers.

And Rafizi Ramli is unwittingly but nevertheless, enthusiastically, the person whom Anwar Ibrahim is using to cut the “tall poppy” to size.

And what of Rafizi Ramli future in PKR?

I only have this to say to Rafizi….brother you must be very smart to have achieved so much at your age…and yet you have to ask yourself why you have allowed yourself to be “used” by Anwar Ibrahim for his own ends? Did it ever occurred to you what a hell of a team you and Azmin would have made in PKR….a team that could and would have done more for PKR and Malaysia then what that team from Istana Segambut could, would and want to do for PKR and our nation? And now once again, as he has done countless times in PKR and elsewhere, Anwar divides and rules over others for his own vested interests.

Zuraidah Kamaruddin, Ginie Lim and Tian Chua have all ‘welcome’ Anwar’s decision to contest the PKR’s President post…..a euphemism that politely tells us that they want someone else to be president of PKR. The question that seems to escape Anwar Ibrahim is simply this….how soon will it be before he runs out of “loyal” people who will do his bidding? Surely there must be another way for PKR to move forward without sacrificing any of PKR’s faithful at the altar? And is anyone more faithful to Anwar Ibrahim than Azmin Ali?

Maybe it is time to look elsewhere within PKR for the fragmentation of PKR. Maybe you might have too look at Madam Secretary rather then Anwar Ibrahim. Najib had his Rosmah, Mahathir his Siti Hasmah and now it is beginning to be clear that Anwar Ibrahim has Azizah. What Azizah is to Anwar Ibrahim is still unclear but Azizah is not comfortable with those who have been with Anwar Ibrahim from the very beginning. Azmin Ali for starters. We know that Anwar Ibrahim political strength within Pakatan Harapan weakens even as Mahathir’s strengthens. If Azizah is to see enemies hiding in every nook and corner within PKR, how will PKR fare if those fears are allowed to wreck asunder what Anwar Ibrahim has put together in the past two decades?

There is no place in PKR for Azmin Ali? No place for Azmin Ali who started out with Anwar Ibrahim in 1987? Azmin Ali who had served as Anwar’s personal secretary through Anwar’s appointment as Deputy Prime Minister and until Mahathir sacked Anwar in 1998? Azmin Ali who had remained close to Anwar following the dismissal and the founding of the opposition Parti Keadilan Nasional, which later became the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR). After two decades of loyalty, Azmin is no longer wanted by Anwar Ibrahim?

Is it Anwar who wants Azmin out or is it Azizah? Is Azizah the vindictive shrew who makes the decision to dismiss and cut out all ex staff, classmates and some friends of Anwar Ibrahim? Do we have another Rosmah in the making? Or is all this a sandiwara that Istana Segambut plays out for their own benefit and self-interest? And in the pursuit of that interest, all else are expandable. Azmin included….and later perhaps, having served their purpose, Rafizi Ramli.

Meanwhile, what of Anwar Ibrahim?

Junjung kasih atas kesudian DYMM Sultan Johor untuk menziarahi saya di Hospital Medipol Istanbul.
